i like the absurdist bent this one took. some news stories are so bizarre that they render us speechless. others are weird enough to do the opposite and have us talking out loud... sometimes even to ourselves -- strange, indeed!

i had an alternative ending for this one where in the final panel tortoise replies, 'if you like, i can demonstrate the sound of one hand slapping...' in the end i opted for this one because the criticism is more subtle and eludes to the frequency of these sorts of episodes between tortoise and the hare.
